This is my absolute favorite place to shop in San Diego. The employees are kind and hardworking, always willing to help me find what I need. I love to support this place because it is not only cheaper than major food supply stores I am used to like North Park, but the family that pumps blood through this store's veins are dedicated people, never choosing profits over customer service. In fact, Philip helped me choose between falafel, chicken, or beef spices. The pine nuts are are amazing. Pine nuts! The only other place I've seen them is WinCo, and they're more expensive than alattar. What a wonderful experience it has been, while stocking up for a new diet to be greeted, helped, and understood by such amazing people. I only come here every couple weeks, but I'd rather spend every cent I have for food here than anywhere else.

My experience with this store was extremely unpleasant. A while ago, I came here with my friend to shop, but unfortunately, the owner’s behavior was very inappropriate and unprofessional. He tried to get our attention with rude remarks and even asked for our phone numbers. Because of the family connection between my mother and this person’s spouse, I decided to ignore it and not take it seriously.
However, yesterday when one of my family members visited this store, I found out that the same behavior had been repeated: asking for a phone number, followed by a phone call, and eventually proposing a personal meeting. This was really disappointing and concerning to me. One should never feel unsafe in a business environment.
I apologize for this message to the spouse of this person, but I felt the need to warn others about this experience. Especially women, who should be more careful in choosing their shopping places. No one should have to experience such behavior.

I was in the area and stopped by to check out the market and pick up some stuff that my roommate had asked for. I had taken a few pictures of the different types of olives they offered to send to my roommate to see which type she wanted. The cashier then proceeded to scream at me to not take pictures and I had to calmly explain that I was just sending them to a friend so that she could pick which one she wanted Very bizarre behavior…and no apology from the cashier. Terrible service and will not be going back again. There are better middle eastern markets in the area so don’t bother wasting your time

I had a really disappointing experience at this local market in El Cajon. I bought a Diet Coke that tasted flat and off, as if it had been left in the sun or shaken. When I brought it back, the cashier insisted it wasn’t expired and proceeded to taste the soda herself, which I found completely unsanitary.

I politely asked if I could exchange it for something of the same value, but she refused and even tried to charge me again. The situation escalated when the manager got involved, refusing to let me exchange the drink, and instead started yelling at the cashier. After a long 20-minute debate over a $2 soda, I had to leave the store with no resolution.

This experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I don’t want to generalize based on this incident, but I will personally avoid this store in the future. Customer service and cleanliness are key, and this experience showed a serious lack of both.
