I recently had a very disappointing experience at North Ave Foodmart, located at 605 Boulevard NE, Atlanta, GA 30308, and I feel compelled to share to warn others.

Upon entering the store, I encountered a staff member who was incredibly rude and unprofessional. As I was trying to check out, he became visibly frustrated when he couldn't scan my items through the glass barrier. Instead of addressing the situation calmly, he yelled at me, stating he couldn’t scan the items. When I questioned his rudeness, he deflected by blaming the company for the setup, which I found completely unacceptable. I reminded him that I didn't create the barrier and that he should show respect to customers. His response was shocking; he told me, "You don’t have to buy here," which only highlighted his lack of customer service skills.

In addition to the poor service, the overall upkeep of the store was extremely disappointing. The hygiene was lacking, with a noticeable smell throughout. The bathroom was out of order, the microwave was dirty, and the coffee area and soda machine were in poor condition. The floor was dirty and cracked, which adds to the overall neglect of the store. It’s clear they want to make money from our community but won’t even take the time to clean the store or fix it for our comfort.

This experience raises a larger concern about how some businesses operate in our communities. It feels like they set up shop and forget that they are part of our neighborhood, often profiting from it without showing any regard for the customers they serve, particularly in predominantly Black American neighborhoods.

I strongly encourage anyone considering a visit to North Ave Foodmart to think twice. Customer service and cleanliness should be a priority, and it's clear that this establishment falls short. There are plenty of other gas stations and stores that value their customers and provide a welcoming environment. Save yourself the trouble and choose a place where you will be treated with the respect you deserve.
