My family and I had one of the worst experiences of our lives dealing with the permitting process to build a home in groom creek.
Our plan reviewer REEDA WICKWARE fought with our engeneer tooth and nail every level.

One issue amongst many was with the footings inside the perimeter of the home , our plan was redlined because Reeda would not accept what our engeneer had determined was suitable .

We ended up involving the geotechnical engeneering firm who confirmed our engineers details where correct .

Total time lost for this , due to all the back and fourth…almost 3 MONTHS.

Keep in mind we are living in a 16’ trailer during this time , to say that this plan reviewers zelous incorrect and confrontational approach caused delays which In turn caused much suffering and strife in our family would be an understatement.

Our engineer who Has worked in Arizona , Washington and Alaska ended up saying that in his entire career, he had never dealt with such an obstinant plan reviewer

The whole process ended up taking over 9 months.

the plans where finally approved in December by which time the soil was frozen and building could not begin for many more months.
Long story short we sold the lot at a loss which we have still not fully recovered from.

This Dept. of Yavapai County is expedient and responsive.They help people navigate the often confusing channels and procedures necessary to cure violations such as the multitudes committed by Yavapai County Humane Society Thrift Store with rampant disregard for dark sky ordinances that could otherwise enable private residents to enjoy the stars and be free of invasive light permeating the interior of their residence.
