A few people we met along our road trip told us about their burgers so we had to go up. They were pretty amazing and the friendly locals hanging out at the bar made it an awesome stop. A great detour from the 49!

Monday through Wednesday most places in Volcano are closed. We visited on a Wednesday, unfortunately, but we're happy that Sizemore's was open for lunch (and quite busy with both locals and visitors having come for lunch and drinks). We had pastrami sandwiches on rye bread, which were made fresh and tasted good. People at the bar counter were locals, and quite friendly. The store has a number of collectibles on display: everything from old beer cans and bottles, games, and magazines, to a Harley Davidson scooter and old appliances. It's worth a visit.

If you get a chance to make the detour to Volcano, California and visit this store, do it!

It's not so much of a store now (although they do have local goods there!) as a place to get some good food nowadays, but they have some very cool vintage things lining the shelves and all around. It cracked me up when I saw the red chandelier that my mom adored in her dining room hanging from the ceiling of the store, seven or eight of them!

But the food! True, we only ate the burger, but if it's any indication, everything there would be great. I got the double cheeseburger with provolone, which they cooked over their brick-lined grill. The burger was made fresh and was everything I dreamed - huge, perfect and very tasty. It was big enough to share with my hungry brother.

There are some picnic tables outside and bathrooms around the back.

Was here and the food was so good! The owner was such a nice guy and was very thoughtful over all this place deserved 10 out of 5 stars since it was that good! While we were eating he asked us if we needed anything and gave us a variety of things to talk about!

The people here are always so nice! We love coming here. We have noticed a difference in the burgers now that they are no longer grilled over an open flame. Still good, but not as good as they were. But we still love this special place and visiting here.

This place is really cool. Oldest general store in the state of California. Lots of neat decor and antiques inside. The staff is very nice and helpful. Great place for lunch. Get a burger from the grill or a tri tip sandwich, food is so good. Just a real neat place.
