We just worked with Albany Subaru to trade in our 2015 (manual) Forester for a 2017 automatic model. The Albany Subaru team, and Dante Green in particular, were fantastic. They were very patient in explaining our options, and we never felt pressured. They were also exceedingly fair with our trade-in price, adding some extra value to account for a missing maintenance record on our purchased model. Bought a car from Dante a couple of years ago. He was great! He was very honest with me and didn't try to sell the car for more than it was worth. After I got a mechanic check we took the car to the service department of the dealership where it had previously been serviced to ask whether the timing belt had been replaced, and they also told me about about potential problem on their records that they weren't obligated to mention at all. Definitely not your typical car dealership that tries to hide problems from you. The car has been running well for 2 years and has needed very little maintenance. Thanks Dante :).

The process of buying was smooth, but 1 month after I bought the pre-owned 2015 Hyundai Sonata (45k miles), I needed to replace all brakes (for USD 1.4k). Either the Albany Subaru employees knew about the brakes and they did not tell me; or they did not know about the brakes and don't check their cars sufficently before selling them again

I visited this pre-owned/used dealership in an interest to purchase a Subaru, as I have owned a Subaru in the past. During my visit the sales rep was very friendly, down to earth, not pushy, I was able to test drive two cars that gave me a sense of about five or six cars I was interested in. I sat down with the sales rep and he did a mediocre job of breaking down the finances (Not sure how much of this was due to wanting a sale, or lack of understanding how taxes, service fees, interest etc. works). At the end of the day I was simply window shopping with the slight possibility of buying.

Overall the in person interaction would have resulted in a 4 star review in my opinion; however, following this visit my phone and email were bombarded by calls and messages checking in to ask if I still needed a car. The frustrating part about this was I made it clear I was no longer interested and the emails or numbers began coming from people 'higher up' in the company. Eventually these calls and emails stopped after I continued to make it clear I was no longer interested. Long story short, check this place out, it's got some good people working, just don't give them your phone number or email. Would I shop here again? Yes. Was I pretty heated a few months back when I received sales spam from them? Also, yes.

BEWARE! The name Subaru suggests some sort of honesty and class, but that's not the case. Lured me out to take a 30min Bart ride with gorgeous looking pics of an pre-owned Outback. Verified in writing and via phone with them that the car is as shown in pristine condition. Then the car was battered all along the side, scratches and some panels dented in. Refused to acknowledge that this is an accident car!
