Best Western Inn - Monroeville, Alabama

Unfortunately, due to hurricane Milton, we were forced to do a mandatory evacuation. Hotels and motels all through the Florida, Georgia, Alabama area were scarce. I was able to find this place through the Best Western app.

Let me say that the pictures are misleading because the room and place itself are definitely more dated and worn than the pictures reflect. But with that said, the rooms were clean and everybody at the motel was nice. The breakfast in the morning was pretty decent in the lobby that’s included in the price. There’s hardly anything to do in the area but if you get a chance, take a little road trip to somewhere around there. We are fans of the HGTV television show Hometown and we realize that Laurel Mississippi was only about an hour and a half drive so we made our way over there for a day trip while we were killing time.

And summary about the motel, it wouldn’t be my first choice, but of the options in the area it’s probably the better choice .

Positive: Super clean rooms. Staff was awesome and helpful. Negative: My visit (3 days), I basically had no WIFI because of a issue from the provider. This was a problem to me because of the work I needed to do on the laptop. I use AT&T phone service and only had 1 bar of service which was not enough to Hotspot my Laptop.

Positive: Friendly staff. Negative: I wish there was more decor at the elevators. It was bland and Univision?s. There were no plants. Building 3.

I was told upon checking in by a lady name Joanne that my reservation was cancelled because my card was declined,which I knew was a lie because my card was ran and but was told it was plenty of room. The next day talking to one of my relatives that also stayed at the hotel found out that they were also told that their room was cancelled but Joanne also told them that MY card was declined which totally pissed me off. Why would you tell that to another guest. Then when checking out by a lady named Melissa she talked about Joanne so bad about not doing the right thing and not knowing her job. Again very unprofessional. Don't know if I will stay here again. These 2 ladies definitely need some training on protocol and professionalism.

Updated hotel that would have been great if the air had not been set to "off". It has taken most the night to cool off considering the 90-100 degree weather outside. I probably should have asked for another room, but after a long day, I just hoped for the best.

The room was clean, and everything worked properly. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful except for the check-in person. Good basic old style motel that has been updated. There is not a lot to choose from in the area, so this did the job.

From the time we arrived till the time we left, everyone employee of BW we encountered was very nice and welcoming. We stayed in a pet free/smoke free room. (My husband has allergies). We needed several rooms for family arriving for a family event. They were able to accommodate our request. The breakfast the next morning was a pleasant surprise. Everything you could want from a continental breakfast to a hot breakfast with fresh fruit provided. It was an enjoyable experience. The breakfast room was comfortable and able to accommodate our group and other guest. Thank you BW!

Room was ok. Bathtub paint was chipping. I did not feel comfortable taking a shower. TV was more updated, but there weren't many channels, and the few that worked were no sound. The light did not work in the shower. I know we are in the age where we have iwatches and cell phones, but the clock didnt work, not that much of a big deal but it would have been nice. Rooms overall need a serious serious upgrade. New bedding, new floors, bathroom, light fixtures. Workers need better pay so they will be motivated to clean better.
