It's a pretty good thrift store to buy all kinds of items. Their prices are reasonable. There's lot of things to find kidding under everything. The employees were kind too. It's a little crowded but not bad

How absolutely disgusting. The prices at this store are always outrageous and seeing this kitchenaid mixer for $300 dollars is the icing on the cake for me. To get donated items for FREE and charge almost full retail is absurd. The people who price items here ought to be ashamed and the management is to be blamed for allowing this. Thrifting was meant for those of us who are less fortunate or trying to be careful with our money but it’s all a game now. This store is absolutely not worth going to anymore. Hope Chest is Modesto isn’t much better but they're not charging almost full retail for items like this place is. I hope someday we get our old thrift store pricing back and we can actually afford to shop at thrift stores!

Good selection but prices vary considerably, even for the same item. The only thing consistent amoung the prices is that they are higher than the other local Hope Chests. I guess that explains why things sit on the shelf here so long. And yes they sell underwear.

My dad passed away at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House
in Hughson Ca. When we were clearing out his house I insisted we donate anything we didn't want to the Hope Chest it made perfect sense it was a win win situation the donations would help to fund Hospice care and also it would help people in the community who otherwise couldn't afford some things like perhaps school clothes or household items or maybe shoes etc. I felt good everytime I made a donation and I felt good every time I gave them my business and I shopped there 2 to 3 times EVERY WEEK it was always fun, the staff were friendly they had a good selection of merchandise that was priced at the average prices for thrift stores, then it all changed and it makes me so angry the prices are just downright ridicilous if a struggling mother can't afford the high-prices at the regular retail stores to get her kids school clothes then I don't know what she'll do because she wont be able to afford the Hope Chest prices either and that just isnt right. When I donate items I do so thinking that they will be a blessing for someone in need and also help a good cause I didn't donate things so that people would leave there with nothing, without what they need and feeling bad. One time they tried charging me more for an item than what the original price tag was from the store they shoud be ASHAMED of themselves ESPECIALLY SINCE I KNOW FOR A FACT a lot of donations never even make it into the store because CERTIAN employees sit stuff aside AND TAKE IT HOME so I guess they raise the prices to cover all they are taking for FREE. Notall thestaffis bad I would like to mention one employee who's such a sweet lady she has been there for many years and I think she's the only reason I even still go there at all, her name is Hortencia and she is always so cheerful and she always makes it worth stopping in. Anyway our town needs a decent thrift store or maybe somebody should call corporate , just saying. Oh and did you notice their replies to the reviews are generic and only the positive reviews get a reply? Mine will probably be deleted!

After seeing they threw away perfectly good plush toys, that could have been donated to Operation Christmas Child or sent them to another location. I ask why they said they had to many.
I think that is just wrong.

I’m a thrift store gal, and have been frequenting this Hope Chest for many years. I can say that I was absolutely APPALLED by the sky high “antique store” prices that they have now!! Their shelves are loaded, and now I know why. I would’ve bought 15-20 items this morning when I went, and left with one thing because I couldn’t afford it! The CD’s and DVD’s are cheap, but anything that is “oldish” has an “antique store” high price. There’s an old saying and it goes like this…”Would you rather have a hundred dollars from one person, or a dollar from a hundred people?” It’s sad that they’d rather have the hundred dollars from one person, because I know they’re losing A LOT of clients. I’m really disappointed in the greediness of this “thrift store” especially during these hard times that our country is having with inflation being what it is.
