By far the worst building department, and that is saying a lot.

Update- 9-12-24 they get worse and worse. Who is in charge here? This place needs to be better. The mayors and leaders should be ashamed

Never dealt with a building department like this. Drove from Clearwater 6 times (5 hour drive) you have to provide your own external engineer for an inspection so what is the point in the actual building department. Then we turned in revisions and they can’t find them. Will never work in here again another wasted 10 hour trip. They never answer the phone either.

This office needs to be revamped from start to finish. It is not serving the tax payers well at all! Could tell you how my project has been impeded for months and months going into years (just like others here) because left hand did not know what the right hand was doing, phones are not answered, and calls are not returned. Worse of all staff and management are not fully knowledgeable and don't care that your time and money is being wasted due to their inefficiency, lack of caring and KNOWLEDGE. Is typical gov't workers with no skin in the game so to speak--they don't care if they make you pay for unneeded and costly documents (engineered drawings). Lets work to improve this office and make it responsive to the needs to taxpayers, SMART and efficient for the good of Dania Beach! Would like to say some of the workers in the front are doing their best and are caring but clearly management of overall operation is severely lacking to put it charitably.

Code enforcement with mr. White has been a nightmare. He tries to intimidate homeowners and not give them extra time to finish work after a permit has already been pulled. Not helpful in anyway. He does deserve to be working for the city and be able to collect a pension from our tax dollar.

I spoke to Francheska Capellan due to an open permit that was attached to my property in error. She requested I fill out a Permit Information Request Form. However, within minutes and before I had a chance to complete the form, she called back and took care of the problem.
Although it was an issue created by an erroneous entry, I'm giving 5 stars based on her diligence and prompt attention to the matter.
