Excellent Building department in my opinion and I have dealt with a lot of them. The line moves quickly at the department. Reviews happen in a reasonable amount of time. The inspectors are nice and dependable. They have an excellent online service for checking the status of permits and they have people available at the office to answer simple questions or to check
on the process. Short wait times in general.

The Fort Lauderdale Inspectors truly stand out, embodying integrity and hard work that reflect the city's values. I wish this exceptional level of service and teamwork is also extended to every city in Broward County.

Do your best to do the job without permit. Why?
Kitchen cabinets permit. Applied in September. It has been almost 3 months now. Made the remaining payment 2 weeks ago. The permit has been waiting to be issued.
What else do you need to print a piece of paper?
Why do you make the residents suffer?
Again, Do your best to do the job without permit. You will suffer too.

Totally rude!!!!! I called so nicely with a question about a correction and the lady was trying to make me feel dumb for what? She was so rude and nasty, you can tell she hates her job. PATHETIC! Find a job that does not involve customer service!

Alliesha from the division of assistance was outstandingly helpful. I was having issues accessing permitting information and she took 5 minutes of her time to explain thoroughly and walk me thru the process. She was patient and waited for me to ask questions. She was amazing!

Very rude customer service by Carmel (not sure if that's how you spell it). I called the building department to ask a question and she said in a very rude way "You need to talk to someone else, I cant help you". I could not believe how rude this woman was. For someone who answers the main line for the building department, you would think they would be nicer and also knowledgeable regarding how to go about submitting a tie down for a job. Will defiantly be contacting the chief of the building department to complain about this matter.
