Hello to all those who will listen,
I was a CDL A delivery driver who worked for Pitney Bowes making deliveries to the Duluth Trading Company Fulfillment Center at 400 International Pkwy Adairsville, GA 30103
I was delivering to that location four times a week as I had just started the position with Pitney Bowes earlier this month. I was trained to deliver an empty trailer to them and take a loaded trailer from them and bring it back. So the process is drop empty trailer, hook to one of the two loaded trailers on door 87 or 95 that should have a green light and be ready to go. When trained to do this and normally when making my delivery I would arrive on grounds at 5:30pm to 6:30pm. A few times when I arrived both lights would be red. I was instructed to take pictures of the lights and or go ask if they could be released before not making the delivery. This happened three times in my time delivering there. The first time someone just released the trailer, second time same thing. Now the third time which was this pass Tuesday I arrived earlier than normal. I got there at around 4:50-5pm. There was no trailer in door 95 and the light was red on 87. There was an ups driver there and a FedEx contractor there before I got there. As usual I pulled pass the docks dropped my trailer and went to ask if they could release the 87 trailer. I was informed that the trailer would not be ready until 5:30pm by a younger white gentleman. I said okay and started back to my truck as I walked out I saw that they had another Pitney Bowes trailer in door 90 with a green light so I went back to ask about that trailer. I guess that irritated the staff inside as the person who answered the door this time as a white lady who seemed irritated as she came to the door to tell me that, that trailer was empty and brought last night and I would still just have to wait until 5:30pm. But she informed me that I could put my empty trailer in door 95 and then just wait for door 87. So that’s exactly what I did. Hooked back to trailer, put it in door 95 and pulled in front of trailer in door 87 and waited… as I mentioned before the FedEx driver did the same thing I did and waited in front of the trailer next to mine and I even asked him before I dropped my trailer was I in his way, he said no and thanks for asking.
The next day I was informed that someone form Duluth Trading in the shipping department wrote a long email and complained that I dropped the trailer in the middle of the yard, and that I pulled under that trailer as it was being loaded and scared the person in loading the trailer. I was informed earlier in the day about the complaint and was told that they have done this do drivers before and was give instructions on how to position the truck as to let the camera on the truck show everything so it not there word against yours. When I delivered the next day that’s exactly what I did. But as a result of the complaint I was let go from my job. Now I don’t know if I was the lady being irritated because I came to the door more than once and asked questions, or if they are just a difficult customer to deliver drivers or if the lady that answered the door as being racist and acting like a Karen!
But I do know I didn’t do anything out to the ordinary and I definitely didn’t go under the trailer while it was being loaded.
But for the sake of other CDL delivery driver who deliver there, make should you record and document everything so you have proof if you are being lied on! And if I will be sending this long email to their corporate office to complain on them as it is unfair to me, my family and other drivers to have someone so easily take away an opportunity when you did nothing wrong and you can’t do anything in return.
