This was my shopping area growing up here. Most places have changed businesses, but they have 3 places I places I still visit. Stones Pet store (forever), Michael's Taqueria, and Ace Hardware. I love the Mexican food at Michael's, buy home improvement supplies at Ace and Stone's Pet Store, my store for all my critters needs!!

A mix of really good shops like the knowledgeable and helpful liquor store and Michael's Taqueria, and the awful Birreria joint, a terrible bagel shop compared to the one across David, as well as the worst laundry facilities on the coast.

Cool spot. I parked the area so I could grab Sushi from Ocean Sushi Deli. Staff patient, helpful, facilities clean, prices reasonable and sushi 🍣 was fresh. I got a basic California Roll and will try something else on my next visit. Oh yeah the BBQ Pork Bun was on hit. Should of gotten two out of gluttony but really one is sufficient.

Nice little center featuring am Ace that's decent, a bagel kitchen that serves tasty items and a liquor store - the bottle shop - that, while a bit expensive has a friendly, knowledgeable staff and a very good selection of high end scotches, tequilas and mezcals.

I like to go to Michaels taqueria. It's stayed consistent there for many many years. The food has not gone down hill in the 35 years I've been going there. When I'm in town, which is as little as possible, this is one of the few positive places in Monterey/PG that I can think of, that always brightens my day. If you are feeling trapped and need to get out of the fishbowl, this brings a bit of ease.
Advice: Hit Michael's after you have driven around asilomar no less than 35 times and need some slingshot fuel to (Get Outta here!!!🤯) send you Free!!! On your merry way 🙂
