On The Road Again

First a little background: While in Canada I developed a Trans Comm Failure indication in my RV. While driving, the Trans Comm Failure would appear, the Tach and Speedometer would drop to zero, the engine temp gauge would spike, the battery indicator would drop to 8 volts and the Allison 6spd would indicate XX for the gear selection. At the same time a number of seemingly unconnected indicators would light (ck engine, ABS, Cruise disengage, etc.). After a few moments it would all return to normal. All while the RV continued on as if nothing happened (except no engine braking down hill and no lower gearing uphill). After 3 days at Calgary Freightliner (and a $1,500 bill) they flat out told me they could not fix the problem. I decided to take the RV to a Freightliner near home (Florida). I got as far as Opelika Alabama when the Trans Comm Failure came and stayed. I could not start my RV the next morning. I had it towed to Four Star Freightliner at Valley, Alabama. After 3 weeks (±) they called me and said, "Your RV is ready." By that I assumed the problem had been found and fixed. After a $2,000+ bill and 3 hours down the road the Trans Comm Failure was back and seemingly with a vengeance. So, do I continue on to an appointment I had looming in Montana or take it back to a place that said it'd been fixed. I continued on. The problem continued to plague me, intermittently, all the way across the country until I hit Midland, South Dakota where again it failed hard leaving my wife and I stranded at a KOA. When I contacted Four Star management the best I got was, "have the next technician that works on it call this number * and we'll tell him what we did." Seriously? After 24+ hours of sitting (waiting for a tow that never came, SHAME on you Saferide!) and vainly trying to start the RV (constantly with the same Trans Comm Failure indication) it suddenly started (?). We continued to our destination in Montana. Here the RV sits STILL with the problem I paid over $2,000 to fix.
Thank you Four Star . . . for nothing.

WENT BY TRUCK SITTING IN LOT WITH DUST ON IT FROM LACK OF NOT WORKING ON IT .

PEOPLE. CALL YOUR AREA REP AND COMPLAIN THESE PEOPLE DONT CARE ABOUT YOU AND I DONT THINK THEY KNOW HIW TO REPAIR A TRK
THEY JUST KEEP THROWING PARTS AT IT THAT -----COST. YOU $$$$---- RUN. RUN RUN
DONT TRUST THEIR SVC DEPARTMENT ALL THEY DO IS LIE. CALL CORP AND GET THEM ON YOUR SIDE WITH ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THEY WILL LOSE THEIR FRANCHISE!!!!

Very shady business. They charged $900 for diagnostics.
We need one thing but they wanted to upsell us with unnecessary 23k repair. We were forced to do what they offered or to leave.
Service supervisor was extremly rude and arogant. Thank you and se you next never.

Was supposed to leave truck outside gate. They DID NOT costing me revenue ($800 in this case)... Gotta sit till Monday when they open.. grrrrr

Communication is definitely off but sometimes you don’t have a choice when you brake down you just have to trust that they will do the right thing even if it cost you to fix the same problem back to back smh

I recently had a breakdown, which forced me off of the highway in Valley, Alabama. I was able to pull into a Love’s truck stop but they didn’t have a shop. The Freightliner dealership was closed and I wasn’t aware that they had a 24 hr roadside assistance technician. I called a local roadside service and they came out but couldn’t pinpoint my problem, money down the drain!! I got up the next morning and called Four Star Freightliner and they sent their
Technician Dan. He was very thorough, polite, and professional. He quickly diagnosed my problem. He explained how the part worked and what caused it to fail. Luckily for me that my part was under warranty , so I only had to pay for the service call. Dan got me up and running. Anytime I’m in that area and I’m in need of service, I’m going to give my business to Four Star!!!
