Anyone who owns a home should have Habitat for Humanity ReStore on their Rolodex. It’s better to help someone in the community who may be in need of what you may be about to discard (if it’s in working order) rather than just throwing it away or waiting for trash collectors to pick it up off the curb and worse, sitting in your yard or garage being useless. You just might get a tax deduction out of it to boot! ReStore has been building homes, improved homes, and assisted Arizonans in need since 1985, and they need our help. If it’s a useful household product or tool, but not for you, this is the place to take it. You’ll be happy you did.

Over the past year we have occasion to use both the Restore in Phoenix on Watkins and the Restore in Payson. While both were clean and had good selections, and each had friendly staff, we decided we preferred the Restore in Payson. Primarily this decision was based on ease of donation, especially since we had several big items for which we needed their truck for pickup. The drivers reserve the final authority to OK each item, since they can see it. Sometimes, photos are asked for as well. In Payson, they were much more relaxed about this and seemed grateful for whatever was donated. I attribute this to the abundant market the Phoenix Restores can draw from. We needed a pickup and the wait time for that truck is quite long in Phoenix. In Payson, I could schedule the pick for when it worked best for me. these photos are from the Phoenix Restore.

Great thrifting here and all the Phoenix ReStores. I’ve noticed that each location has its own eclectic vibe of goods. I’ve found that:
1) The central Phoenix store has a better selection of lighting and rugs.
2) The Peoria store features a wider variety of better quality furniture, paint, and plumbing fixtures.
3) The Glendale store has a good collection of cabinet and building hardware and tends to sell through its items for sale the fastest.
4) I only recently visited the Tempe/Mesa store, so I’ve not seen any trends but the quality of goods is quite high there.
Just remember, the retail items this charity sells are from random donations to them, so YMMV!
