Terrible quality grapefruit....so over-priced. My elderly Mom who lives in Florida knows I love grapefruit and decided to order the Grapefruit trio...3 of each in the box. $49 for 9 measly grapefruit...my guess is they were 48's size...from my produce days. That's $5 each...plus shipping. Not only were there only 8 in the box...rattling around because they were so small...but half of them had soft, thick skin...which is not a good thing for citrus.
It makes me so sad....borderline angry...that my elderly mother spent so much for such poor quality product. I don't dare tell her that she got ripped off. Especially since I can get nice large ruby reds up here in New York for $1.50 each...or $13.50 for the same 9 pieces. The Hale Groves website pictures are very deceiving....see the pix for what they show vs. what I got (the big ones are from the grocery store in NY). Never again.

I have ordered several times from Hale Groves. The fruit is fresh and delicious- if you have any problems- they are amazing to assist and extremely impressive customer service. I will always order fresh grapefruit, oranges, apples- etc….. EVERYTHING is delicious

This year and last I received the same gift basket from a client from Hale Groves. Four oranges, mints, cookies and some chocolate balls. Not impressive to start. Last year the oranges were soft so they were tossed. This year they were soft but one of completely moldy. I reached out to customer service. They said they could give a credit, but I didn't buy it and didn't want to embarrass my client who was so kind to think of me. Instead they said they would send new fruit at the end of January (a month from now).
I would never order anything from them.

There is not a store you can go into to make purchases, but the oranges we ordered were sweet and juicy. They are a bit pricey. They have a very big selection of gifts to choose from. I would order a lot more if the shipping prices were lower. These were Honeybells.
I was told they were the juiciest and sweetest oranges, but these were kinda average. They were good but not Wow. The shipping made them $10.00 apiece. That’s kinda expensive.

I received the Valentine gift for my husband. I was very disappointed in the oranges that came with it. I sent a note to the company letting them know about my disappointment. I did not expect to hear anything from them. What a surprise to get an email from them apologizing and sending a replacement box of honey belles. Thank you, Hale Groves, what a delightful experience.

very very disappointed in the quality and prices over the last couple of years. This will be the last time I order from Hale Grove. Been sending fruit to my family from Hale Grove for over 15 years.

Ordered 2-tray each of navel and honey bells (48 pieces) for $93.99. They shipped only 1-tray of navel (12 pieces).

I sent an email no response (I waited over 72 hours for a reply). They ask for 24 to 48 hours to reply. I called this morning and was told that what I purchased was for 24 pieces for fruit.

There is no way on earth or space that I would order 24 oranges for $100.

VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!

I sent an order to my friends and they told me the oranges and tangerines were soft and moldy!! I was very disappointed. Although last year's order had some that was moldy. I looked over that. This year is different and worse. So I'm giving a 2 stars and will be looking for another company!! I am writing to your customer service with my name and copy of receipt off your site!!! My friends have had to throw away almost all the fruit because of mushy and moldy fruit!!! What has happened to common courtesy and honest people?
This edit is to say, they finally sent 2 small trays of oranges and tangerines to replace all the bad ones!! Thank you, Hales!

TL;DR 3 stars for product / -2 stars for technology and customer service.

The fruit I ordered as delivered as promised and the recipient said the qualify looks good. She hasn't tasted it yet.

I'm happy with the result, but will not order again for several reasons.

(1) the website checkout was extremely difficult. I had to abandon it on my phone and switch to a computer. and even then there were issues.

(2) the delivery window is much too long. It was delivered on 12/11 for Christmas. I knew this going in, as the website gave me something like a 3-week window (going from memory here), but a tighter window would have been better. Hopefully the fruit keeps until Christmas

(3) the delivery was scheduled for 12/10 and didn't arrive till 12/11. Typically not a big deal, but the recipient was scheduled for a business trip leaving the morning of 12/11. The only reason we didn't have to get a neighbor to retrieve it was because her flight was cancelled. This part is really on FedEx, not Hale Groves. However, when I tried to call to see if I could have it held until her return, I was only hold for a long time. I finally chose the option to be called back. It told me it would call me back on the number I entered, but didn't give me a way to confirm it. After it told me my number 3 times with no instructions to do something, I finally hung up. Needless to say, no one ever called me back.
