There is no support from HA to protect landlords. I rented my only home to predatory tenants and HA left me struggling to receive rent to pay my mortgage, and accessing my own home for repairs. Even after giving tenants multiple eviction notices, HA never replied to my calls or emails with my struggles. It was my life’s nightmare, literally.

Good luck trying to get them answer your emails and your calls, you’ll never hear back once you hand your house to their poorly-screened tenants.

The experience renting though HA traumatized me so much that I sold my property, and never again will rent to someone again.

Went in to HA to ask a simple 10 second question and ended up having to wait 30 minutes in line to be helped, only 1 person working at the front desk and no sign that says “line starts here” , everyone was coming in and sitting saying that they were in line smh

Directors of the housing authority of Monterey have policies unknown public for disabled senior homeless that have priority wait list but stipulate it's a lotto. Santa Cruz county has priorities and the only law provisions available are contemporaneous law. The ADA and in the state of California civil rights department repeatedly fail on interviews as they have no jurisdiction. There are no laws that I know of for providing preference to homeless, disabled, displayed housing, other. I even complain to Washington civil rights and it's an administrative problem. Directors are not listed and in order to serve them they need to be listed which they must be hiding. Yes the chamber of commerce was listed when I did a search and they won't give the information.
They must be spending a lot of time in July looking for bilingual interpreters has nobody picks up the phone

My very first experience was the greatest I was getting kicked out of my apartment so I didn’t see opportunity to find any one bedroom in watsonvillle and Santa Cruz well I remember the no sec 8 days on Craigslist in Salinas I saw tons I even thought it’s even cheaper more affordable . So my new staff from the housing of Santa Cruz was a real B from hell I mean she was made so I requested porting and she told me if they will accept porting if not I was basically fkd so I called housing of Monterey county my self and a much more pleasant response I was told oh yes no problem just have your complete die and your choice of unit o that when we call the inspection that is all wats left to do . The first gal lizzette v was follow through professionally. Than I don’t know what happened . But the experience of applying doing tours l ol 🤣. I remember tying every udr apartment and than rhino !! I couldn’t wait to meet him the concierge at lobby 🤣😂😂. I hadn’t done it sooner because you pay 45 55 dollars per application but not a guaranteed fortunately I found a gray landlord. But I think he’s getting impatient with me behind on rent I reported change of income twice and no response rent adjustments are crucial “ let’s not forget if you get or have a voucher your broke so security deposits they say all these programs that don’t qualify for a single person no cL fresh no cal works. Now get or keep any of public assistance in Salinas is a pain in the ass literally . I come from a county where rent and cost of living is outrageous not too far from this county I’m not ready to make a decision to giving up housing assistance as I age . So for me it’s edgy and stressful . The first thing they do when applying for apartment is run a credit check they even ask for a guarantor like wrf Good luck to all of ous

Very unprofessional I was not contacted or aware that my case worker is no longer with them. Found out a year later she was not there anymore . I have been on waiting list since 2017 and still nothing I been trying to call them for over two years now and all I get is a run around I leave voicemail and no one ever calls back.

Very unprofessional. I was not aware that my case manager left and no one notified me. I’ve been screwed up and paying rent I cannot afford all because they don’t reply on a timely matter. This is the second time a case manager left and no one bother to tell me.
I’ve been very patient and understanding because they’re understaffed and overworked but when it’s starting to affect me financially and emotionally it’s not okay. Do better.

This is housing program in Monterey county has very poor professionalism. They shut off phones, never answer phone calls, policy said they have 48 hrs to return phone call *NOT true* false information. Submitted an update to application months ago and still hasn’t been approved, doesn’t seem like people even work here. I understand the work load they have but how hard is it to return emails or phone calls.
