I would call them a complete waste of time. I filed a complaint and all they do is forward emails back and forth between the consumer and the business. I just wasted a lot of time unnecessarily. They should try to change their procedures so they can actually do something besides push paper. Why do these agencies exist?

I just want to mention there is an investigator Jimmy who picked up my call during COVID when I was wrongfully terminated by a temp agency and New York health and Hospital and he called back and verified and went into a class action along with 1500 after 2 years I got a settlement!

Women in Front desk and security big boy both of them just sitting there and play phone. They don’t care about who coming and what people need, i wonder how such as people can work there This Department name is Consumer and Worker protection, so i hope the Supervisor first of all can take a look their workers and check them how they work in work hours , they don’t work proper.

Dcwp helped me win a case of paid family/ sick leave against a past employer of mine who terminated me due to asking too many questions regarding this law. Now every past employee was compensated and future employees will be treated fairly.
The dcwp worker stayed in touch with me, kept me up to date and had great communication over the years it took.
Now I give a fat Zero stars to the settlement department for taking months to reissue my check that they sent to a closed acct. By the way I've still yet to receive. Trace number from the bank verifies was immediately the next day sent back to apparently their 3rd party vendor Analytics consultant who still has my money. What is the settlement dept doing to retrieve the money and why use such a horrible vendor who seems to need some sort of organization lessons so it doesn't take months to, I will assume send back electronically.
Update: I received what what due. For record took 5 months. So piece of advice if you're going thru a similar situation. Keep current your banking info as payment will be sent the way past employer paid you.

I must say for a government office the place look like a five star hotel lobby.
The staff members are very helpful and hard working . The line is moving very fast, I was sure it will be a whole day event, but it was one hour.

Steven Diaz is an uneducated human being. He lack basic reading skills and should not be working for consumers affair. I had a conversation with him yesterday where he threatened and harassed me to give him the results he wanted. I have tried to call him back sever times even left him a message and he does not pick up his phone so I can explain to him that our refund policy is on our contract he just doesn’t know how to read.

Supervisor must be depressed!
Why is she hanging up the phone when I told her I paid for express delivery which includes a signature when delivered meaning their office received the documents, yet some how that office can find anything. I used the address provided to me by the office of consumer affairs so how is it that it shows the package was signed for but never made it to the office? Why is she mad that I’m asking about a lost document with my information on it! Do I not have a right to be concerned over a document with so much information on it. Is this suppose to be a normal thing that occurs in this office? Especially the manner in which the supervisor handle things? Your office didn’t even know if my application was done online or in person yet I’m in the wrong!? All issues with this office should be sent to the BBB OR THROUGH 311

I filed what I thought it would be a successful complaint against a contractor who performed shoddy work. But the mediator, although nice, was extremely gullible and was taken advantage of by this contractor. I settled for a lower amount just to get the case over with, but he kept making excuses about a fake delayed home sale to get out of paying until I finally put my foot down. That’s when the Mediator told me that the contractor’s number was disconnected and I had to take him to court. I wasted a lot of time for nothing. What I found out later was he never disconnected his number, he just blocked the mediator’s line and she didn’t even realize it. I wound up taking him to court and an agreement was filed. But even then, just to get any money out of him was like pulling teeth. He even ignored my lawyer. Thankfully this mediator’s supervisor called me to find out information about the case. As much as I was bitter with consumer affairs, he seemed so sincere, so I talked to him respectfully. That proved to be beneficial, because while this contractor ignored the mediator, ignored the lawyer and didn’t care about court papers, he knew well enough to listen to the supervisor. The supervisor put his foot down telling the contractor to pay up or lose his license. This was something the mediator should’ve done but thank goodness I had someone at consumer affairs who actually cared about my case and brought justice against this horrible contractor. While I was very disappointed with the mediator’s handling of the case, I was very happy that someone higher up cared enough to help me and for that reason I gave consumer affairs a five.
