Met a rude cashier and no apology from the store. I am shopping at Home Depot from now on. Here is the story. The young lady cashier opened the pack of shims I was checking out, thinking she should charge me piece by piece. Then realized making a mistake and refused to get me a new pack, instead saying, “I am busy. You need to get new pack yourself if you want an unopened bag.” Another guy came and said they were all nice people, no need to be upset. The store needs to train their employees properly.

Helpful service, slow cashiers. What do they have a sign to make a line per cashier when 1 line is proven fast and doesn't clog the main aisle!? Ok stock, but very expensive for many items. For example, 10 foot length of pipe, $55... Not too bad... $10 for 1 foot!

Closed on Sundays?!
I can't tell you how many times I've either needed to buy something from them or worse yet return something to them, and they are closed.
Whether it be a Sunday or the fact that they open AFTER I leave for work and close BEFORE I get back, there have been many times in the three years I have lived in El Cerrito that I had to resort to either Home Depot, which I despise, or the tiny Ace hardware way up in the hills of Kensington via squiggly roads so narrow that you have to pull over to let the oncoming car pass. That leaves the far superior Ace of Pinole.

Because they are so much closer I took a chance and bought a ceiling hook on a Saturday, and on Sunday morning ... it snapped while being installed.

Their hours are convenient only for them, the retired or the unemployed.

This isn't the 1950's. They are losing untold sales and income with their rigid and inconvenient hours.

Who ever heard of a hardware store that is closed on Sundays?

Also, their line system seems to confuse everyone and their service is hit and miss.

I'm never going there again.

This is the largest ACE hardware store I've ever seen. It has the feel of an old fashion hardware store and yet has a wide selection of products. So cool.... great place to wander around looking at things.

Good inventory, quality products (unlike the bigbox stores), knowledgeable and helpful staff. Just wish they were open longer and on Sundays. They used to...

Great customer service! I was pleased to be acknowledging when coming into the store and there were several employees waiting to help customers. I asked an employee to direct me to finding an items. Instead of just giving me directions, she walked me directly to it. Also, with it being Saturday, I appreciated that there were multiple cashiers to reduce the wait time to check out.

it's an ace affiliate, so you know it's good, but afa ace hardware storefronts go, this one is top tier.

Excellent service, even on busy days: I just went in on a busy Saturday at noon, and I only had to wait about 4 mins. after taking a ticket, and an employee walked over to help me.

Other reviewers complain about the hours, but *it’s a small business* so of course they don’t have Home Depot hours.

Almost every single experience here over the years has been stellar, which is about the best you can expect from anywhere.
