The hotel is super cute western style but not too kitschy. More of a hipster kind of boho place. Great location to stay if you are seeing a show at Pappy & Harriet's. You can just walk there. Only stayed one night but would definitely stay again! Rene at the front desk was friendly and rooms were clean and simple. No TV's which make it an escape from life. We sill definitely be back. Highly recommend!!.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Motel while visiting Joshua Tree National Park.|First the positives:|- Very comfortable bed and pillows|-Good water pressure, small but adequate shower.|-Quiet place, we were practically the only ones there the first 2 nights|-Pioneertown is interesting, reminds me of places I went on vacation as a kid back in the 60's|-Red Dog and Pappy & Harriet's are fun places with reasonably good food||Now the negatives:|-My bad for not reading the FAQs or reviews more closely but there are no TVs. I get the whole "disconnect from life thing" but I like watching the news in the morning. Put TVs in the room, let the guest decide if they want to turn them on.|-Speaking of mornings, I also like coffee to start my day. Our first two days there was no coffee available in the canteen. Town is a 10 minute drive, a long way for a cup of coffee.|- The weather during our visit was interesting: cold, rain, snow and wind. The Motel can't control any of that but they could have better heaters in the room. Ours did heat the room but it did so by turning on for a minute then off for a minute, all, night, long.|-Wifi is provided but the signal in our room was very weak and frequently dropped. Since there is no cell service we were depending on wifi to make calls.|- I mentioned the good water pressure, nice for the shower, not so nice in the very high, shallow sinks. We quickly learned to turn on the water very lightly, otherwise you get soaked.|- They claim to have someone on-site 24 hrs/day. While that may be true, good luck finding them. We needed clean towels, couldn't find anyone. When we finally did find someone and asked for clean towels it took 5 hours to get them.|-As previously noted, during our stay we had rain and snow, again- out of the Motel's control. They could however, maybe consider paving the parking lot as it became a soupy mess after the rain. Perhaps hauling concrete up to Pioneertown is expensive but I imagine they spend a lot of money regrading the parking lot after every rain.||Conclusion: It is what it is, they advertise themselves as a quaint, relaxing place and I'll give them that. But at this price point I expect a little more.

My favorite part about this motel was Tom. He was hospitable, friendly, accommodating and just a gem. I spoke to him on the phone before I arrived and meeting him, he was just so nice. |As for the motel itself, talk about charming. Geez this motel oozes charm. The rooms are cozy, comfy and I felt as if I was really in a western town back in time. There are board games and cute chairs to bring outside and star gaze. The hand soap smells wonderful. The decor is adorable. There’s a cantina to just hang out and have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

First, Tom was very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that this is a small business that cares about the guests. Second, while a simple and rustic place, the room was comfortable and had everything needed. I stayed at 4 hotels during the course of my trip which started in Palm Springs and ended in Vegas (all others more fancy or pricey) and this one had the most comfortable bed and softest sheets, which was appreciated. The canteen was also a nice touch and welcomed. Also the property seemed well-constructed. Unlike other places I stayed, I wasn’t able to hear my neighbors which was very nice.
A few things to note: This place is very remote, so there really isn’t any cell service and wifi works only in the room (though it was reliable while inside the room). Also there are very limited food options. Pappy and Harriett’s next door was great but it was closed the second night I was there. Overall, I this was a good choice for a trip to Joshua Tree for a few days. While I could have stayed in town, and it might have been slightly more convenient there, it would have been a lot less of a unique experience and probably not as enjoyable.

Nice location to go with family to visit pioneer town and Joshua tree national park. Close to saloon restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very quiet and had a comfortable bed. The room was rustic just like the old west. Pioneer town is fun for a little bit of shopping.

We thought this was going to be a kind of Disney western experience but in fact it's a lovely motel next to a rather hipster wild west cinema set with bougie shops. The Red Saloon is excellent, too. The rooms are great and it's only 20 minutes to Joshua Tree NP. But try the Pioneertown Preserve just up the road which has some wonderful (free) trails.

Wonderful ambience, stargazing hammocks, rooms decorated beautifully. Very comfortable mattress. Only stayed one night, but plan to go back and visit area more. Pioneer Motel was an unexpected surprise on our trip and when I do comeback to visit area will plan on staying at this motel.

The bed was so comfortable. In fact, I slept so well that when I woke up, I forgot where I was! It's the perfect location to have some good fun at Pappy + Harriets without driving anywhere! Love the Pioneertown Motel! We will definitely stay there again!
