amazing store and amazing owner! they have a great selection of music and other oddities (stickers, pins, etc.) i left a music release event empty-handed and the owner stopped me on the sidewalk outside to give me the gift with purchase tote bag for free! will definitely be visiting every time i get the chance 🙂

The Records Department is a gem and Woodstock is truly lucky to be home to this small business. I recently needed a bunch of records for Christmas gifts and they were able to order ones for me that they didn’t have in stock. They came in quickly and the customer service could not be beat. I’ll always support a small, local business rather than give my $$ to some corporation. Especially ones like these - where the owners are kind people who actually give a rip about their community. They have also created such a cool space and open it up to host shows for art, music, special events (like a Wicked listening party - how cool is that?!) and educational opportunities. This is not just another record store or business. These are great people doing great things and I hope they are in Woodstock a good long time. Totally worth a visit!

First time visiting, and I had an absolutely amazing experience! I got to enjoy incredible performances by TAKE 32, Rotten Mouth, and Bull Heather. The atmosphere was fantastic, and I love the concept of this space—it’s such a great platform for small artists to showcase their talent. Plus, their record selection is top-notch. Definitely worth checking out and supporting!

One of my favorite record shops in the entire Chicago suburbs! Better selection of music here than most bigger stores have. Drove over an hour to come get a record I’ve been searching forever to find that no stores closer to me have ever had in stock. Also love the vending machine they have in store with all the cool local art and stuff! Employees/owners are always super friendly and helpful

Genuinely one of my favorite places. Their selection is amazing, especially for someone that has a large range. I was able to purchase all of my wicked hearts desires while also being able to pre order the new Kendrick album. Their service is unmatched. Everyone I have ever encountered there is delightful and amazing. Their sticker selection is delightful. And they even have a vending machine and gum all machine that fills my heart with joy!

I love this place! It’s not just about the records they sell. It’s Mike and Kelly. It’s creating spaces for people to come and share their art (music/poetry). All about music being fun and community driven. Tons of events all the time and I really enjoy the unique stickers, art being for sale and offerings.

The best place for community, art, and feeling like you're home! The Records Department's dedication to creating a safe, inclusive and inviting environment is second to NONE! They have a wicked selection and are passionate about helping you find exactly what you're looking for. And if they don't have it, they do their darnedest to get it in just for you! Very personable! And they host a TON of live events. They have something for everyone there! Definitely a MUST VISIT place in McHenry County!
