Ran in knowing what time the store closed and walked in and was immediately told “we close at 5:30” (it was 5:15) and then got to listen to every employee discuss the store hours at some point.

This was the second time we were greeted this way. We were perfectly aware of the closing time and it made us feel unappreciated and unwelcome. We were back in our car by 5:30PM. You should change your hours to close at 5 as employees were discussing if you don’t want people there after that.

This business had people power washing their side walk at 9PM my family and I were trying to enjoy dinner and than ice cream next door but I just hear pressure washing the whole time. Also blocking 7 feet of sidewalk completely, making people go in the street.

Been there several times when visiting area- when I walked in yesterday I remembered why I don’t like it there. Was watched like a hawk the entire time. Instead of asking if I needed anything- it was clear I couldn’t find a price. What a horrible experience- such nice merchandise. Such hoity Pretty Women Rodeo Dr attitudes. Perhaps I should leave a credit card at counter upon entering so they will let me shop in peace.

With such a great selection of items at reasonable prices, this place should garner 5 stars easily. Unfortunately, the folks that work there just suck the joy out of the experience. I was surveiled almost the whole time I was there. Previous reviews question whether it was a matter of ethnicity or race. Not in my case so equal opportunity oppression I suppose. I imagine it must be awful to work there, unless you're a dementor. I bought some cute items but I won't be back. I'll go elsewhere or shop Etsy or Amazon. No more local shopping for me here.

An absolute favorite for locals and visitors. Handy household items and fun touristy stuff, clothing, jewelry, puzzles, cards and so much more. Parking can be a challenge in season but don’t give up, you’ll find a spot.

Take a look at some of the historical reviews, you'll see there is a problem, it's not the merchandise.

Closing time is 5:30 and they mean "Get out now!" This should be posted somewhere at the front, because they are quite serious about it to the point they will run off paying customers.

My family and I had stopped by to find some local souvenirs and gifts. We had several in our hands we were making our way to check out. We were reminded the store was closed so we put the items back and left without making any purchases. We instead went to another local business and gave them our money.

Without customers there is no store. Without a store you have no job. I guess times aren't as tough as the news would have you believe, since they will run you off with a broom. Surprised they didn't hit me with the door on my way out.

Avoid this shop around end of the day I guess.
Won't be back. Will spread the word to family and friends in town. Wow.

My opinion is that this store offers one of the nicest selection and variety on Venice Avenue; however, upon our last visit, the owner was extremely rude. She followed us around the store as we browsed, I suppose because we had our two small children with us (ages 6 and 8). Our children were not unattended - my son was with my mother-in-law and my husband and my daughter was with me. My son picked up a plastic display brownie and she immediately scolded him and told him to put it down. He quickly put it down and she continued to shadow them. Since I was walking around with my daughter, I was unaware of the incident, but wondered why there was a lady glaring at me with a very condiscending look a I checked out, as I walked out of the store and still as we stood out front. My mother-in-law told me of what happened, which obviously explained the glaring. I understand that many people these days let their children run amok. We are NOT one of those parents, so needless to say, I did not appreciate the experience. I returned my purchases the following day but unfortunately the owner was not there to speak with. Marcia, who handled my return was extremely friendly. There is not anything that Venice Stationers sells that is worth supporting poor behavior.
