My husband is a drummer and when he requested a specific "drum throne" for his kit, I knew where to go to either find it or order it. Village Music, of course! It came in good time for Christmas and he was extremely pleased. Received excellent service. Also I love perusing their record selection! Support small, local business! Support your neighbors!

Nick and his team are incredible. I’ve custom ordered several items from him on tight deadlines and got them at competitive pricing. This store always has what I need or he is willing to order swiftly. I’ve also done instrument trades here.

Worth the stop in, even through all the Avondale construction mess!

Their luthier fixed my beloved jumbo guitar! In fact, it plays better now than it did when I first got it.

I took my guitar to be fixed up back in June, and they did a fantastic job. However, if you need a quick turnaround on some guitar work, make sure and get a timeline for whatever you need done, because I didn't get the guitar back until around THANKSGIVING! And there was a miscommunication or something, because they actually had it back in September apparently, but they just forgot to call me I guess? I know that sounds bad, but I wasn't really calling and checking too often, and I get these things happen.

I'm still giving 5 stars, because I was expecting it to cost $200-$300-- I thought I was going to need some frets replaced, but who ever worked on it just filed my frets down and saved them all, which is way cheaper. Came out to around $80. So they were honest and actually did what was best for the instrument. I'm sure they can do stuff faster, and regular setups and less involved guitar repair jobs seem to have quick turnaround.

If you want the job done right and honestly/integrityish, go with Village Music. It was worth the wait.

I purchased a drum set from Village Music online. The shipping took much longer than it should have and when these drums finally arrived they were damaged. One of the bass drum hoops was cracked and several of the bass drum tension rods were bent. Yes this could have been from UPS dropping but it could have also been from the poor packaging. I messaged with Nick several times and asked for a partial refund for the damaged parts I would need to buy in order to use the bass drum. I've sent many messages over the last 49 days since purchasing, very slow to respond at first, just blamed UPS. I've sent several follow up messages with no resolution and Nick has just stopped responding to me.

BUYER BEWARE- horrible customer service, bad business practices, I would not recommend.

So great to have a full service music store in Avondale. They have lessons, rentals, repairs, instruments and records! Full Service y’all! Friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you with what ever it is that you need. I’ve gotten guitar pedals and strings there several times now. Parking in front is limited but there’s spaces in back as well.

I brought my clarinet it because my mouthpiece cork was slipping off. After how ever many days which wasn't the issue. Yes I reached out for an update then got a pretty snippy text from Nick simply because I wanted an update, I came to pick it up and saw that the cork on the mouthpiece wasn't fixed so I texted the business number and said "it isn't fixed." Nick, the owner, reached out to the repair guy and told him this which "hurt his feelings" because he did fix a few other things, so the repairman called me to "provide good customer service" which he did not. I put that in quotes because those were Nick's words. The repairman, Doug, said that no one communicated to him that the mouthpiece cork needed to be fixed even though it was clearly written on the ticket that Nick actually read to me and that same ticket also says an instrument inspection which common sense would leave one to believe that includes the mouthpiece as well. So the call with the repairman came to an end when he continued to talk over me and started to cuss at me.

Nick initially was very understanding and apologized for the situation and owned up to the mistake though Village Music did what they were supposed to do other than confirming the work once it was dropped off. I initially had no issues with Nick and he was offering up several options of ways to solve this immediately as I had a rehearsal that same night to get to. He even offered to front the $25 to get it fixed. Things changed drastically after he spoke to the repairman again. Nick responded via text instead of calling me and twisted several things in this situation to place fault on me saying that when he texted me the work that was done, I didn't make mention of the mouthpiece not being on that list implying that I should've said something, he's trying to act like I'm complaining about the cost of the work which if you really think I'm whining about having to pay $25, you're insane (it's about the principle and owning your mistakes), and he no longer was offering to front the cost due to not being a corporate business and being a "small business" and offered me the work for $18 instead. Again, it's not about the money for me so no. He continues to defend his friend and didn't even want to tell me the friend's name or business name when I asked even though the friend had already said it to me multiple times.

All-in-all, the way Nick handled this situation was piss poor. The other 1 star reviews he has confirms my experience as well. All of this could've been avoided with a simple apology and leave it there as I've still not received an apology for being cussed at by your associate. Because you wanted to flip the situation and make me wrong, I decided to leave this review. I'm attaching his messages to me so you can see the way he thinks is appropriate to communicate with customers as well as how he owns the issue then doesn't at the same time and basically I should be happy this mistake was made because now I'm getting offered a discount. Wild! All I want is a true, genuine apology without spinning the situation to place fault on me.

Updated: A day after I left this review, he texted me again. Messages are attached. Very unprofessional. To feel the need to have everything in writing so his words can't be twisted.says a lot about Nick. Very immature. To make the comment about his buddy fixing most instruments in the area and good luck is also ridiculous. How old are these people? Do better business please.
