We were there for a mermaid unveiling and had to take advantage of the park. The mermaid shows are really cute and perfect for the family and young ones. The springs are crystal clear and there is a dock you can jump off. Perfect for those hot days!

I apparently went in the office season so the water park amenities were closed which was fine since I was just there for the mermaid show. There is not a 1:30 show on Saturdays in the off season. If you want a boat tour, get there early and get a wrist band at the boat dock for a specific time to return. They were completely full when I arrived.
The food court was decent aside from paying $4 for a small juice and they wouldn't swap my meal's fries for tater tots even though they are on the menu as a stand alone side. The mermaid show was a blend of amazing underwater acrobatics and really cringy storytelling.
Also, be warned. They have free roaming peacocks, which most people love, but I have a minor irrational fear of birds so I wasn't pleased to see them.

Very reasonable to take the family and make a day of it. We went to the Mermaid show. Our 7 year olds loved it and so did we. We also spent the afternoon at the beach, snorkeling and swimming in the springs. Both 7 year old were afraid to go down the water slides. Will probably go back in a few years for that. Once we paid the entrance fee to the park, the mermaid show, beach area, and water slides were included. They also had a riverboat ride, but the line was too long, so we didn't do that.

This state park seems like a roadside tourist attraction from the 1960s. Not well maintained although there appears to be some construction going on. Not much there, the boat ride on the spring was informative and nice to see, but not really worth much of a drive for a $13/ person admission. We stayed about a half an hour. Definitely not designed like a state park, but more like a cheesy tourist attraction.

We went late in the day on the way home from a short vacation to see the Mermaid Show. Also wanted to see one of the few remaining Old Florida attractions. I thought it would be bigger, but it was nice. It is definitely worth a half day trip.

Always a beautiful and peaceful time kayaking down the river. $40 to rent a kayak for 2 hours and it takes you down the river instead of against it. They have a shuttle that takes you back to your vehicle. I only wish I could have had more time out there! But always a great time 🙂

The water is so clear, and the trees provide the perfect shade to avoid the Florida heat. I highly recommend kayaking!

Fantastic state park but you need to plan! We choose weekday since weekends are too crowded. We reserved stand up paddle board ahead of time early morning. We arrived before park opened to get in line for park entrance then we reserved time slot for the 20min boat tour. After floating down the river on stand up paddle board the shuttle brought us back to parking lot. Kayak rental/state park share the same parking lot. The reptile show was amazing & informative (30min). The mermaid show was spectacular! Performed underwater theater carved out of limestone at the head of the natural spring!! Make sure to download the park app so you can plan for times to each event. The water park slide was a long wait…. Swimming in the natural spring was so refreshing at the end of our day! This is a magnitude 1 spring with 120 million gallons of water flowing out every single day! That is more water than is used by the entire state of Florida! Loved this experience!
